(WCSC) - Dominion Energy has discussed establishing new solar choice metering tariffs in the state. Dominion says the goal of the metering program is to ensure that no one group is forced to unfairly subsidize the cost of choices made by another segment of their customer base. The utility company says the approximately 11,000 Dominion Energy customers in South Carolina who use solar on their property also export a lot of it back to the grid. However they also says this means about 740,000 non-solar customers have to pay for maintaining power lines, generation stations and all other associated costs – while also paying for the more cost-efficient energy their utility is producing.

An Atlanta-area prosecutor has launched a criminal investigation into whether pressure that then-President Donald Trump and his allies put on state officials amounted to an illegal scheme to overturn the results of the presidential election. And defamation lawsuits have been filed against Trump s allies - the start of what could be a flood of civil litigation related to false claims that the election was rigged and to the subsequent riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.
